Contract works included asbestos removal and demolition of the rear 4 level reinforced concrete structure including removal of the basement structure and foundations. Part demolition of the 9 level heritage building comprising removal of timber and concrete floors, internal stairs and lift shafts whilst retaining the brick façade which was braced by an internal steel space frame. The site was located next door to commercial office towers and the Regent Theatre requiring the implementation of noise and vibration monitoring to comply with Melbourne City Council guidelines.
